Why see a prosthodontist
Only about 2% of dentists are prosthodontists. I am one of them.
Prosthodontics is the dental specialty devoted to restoring and replacing teeth. It takes three additional years of full-time training after dental school - years spent on exactly the things patients come to me for: how a veneer catches the light, how a crown meets the tooth above it, how an implant is positioned so the final tooth looks like it grew there.

No lectures. No rush.
Good dentistry is technical. Being a good dentist is mostly about listening. Here is what you can expect when you come to see me.
Most people who find me have been putting something off. A tooth that broke years ago. A denture that never really fit. A smile they stopped showing in photographs. If that is you, you are in the right place - and you are not going to get a lecture.
I will listen before I look. I will explain what I see in plain English, show you the options - including the simple ones - and tell you what I would do if it were my own mouth. Then the decision is yours.
I spent years of extra training learning to rebuild teeth properly, and I still teach it to dental residents. But the part of this work I like best is the last appointment, when someone looks in the mirror and forgets to be self-conscious.

What is a prosthodontist?
A prosthodontist is a dentist who went on to complete three more years of full-time specialty training in restoring and replacing teeth - veneers, crowns, bridges, implants, dentures and full-mouth rehabilitation. Only about 2% of dentists in the United States are prosthodontists.
Do you only take complicated cases?
No. I am glad to see you for a single crown, a chipped front tooth or a set of porcelain veneers. The specialty training simply means the same care and planning go into a small case as a large one.
